OPEN FORUM
TOPIC: Make your talent come and stay!
WHEN COMMUNITY, CORPORATE AND HEAD-HUNTERS ARE GATHERING FORCES FOR THE LOCAL ECOSYSTEM!
RELOCATION IS A BIG TOPIC FOR COMPANIES AND STARTUPS TO GROW AND SUCCEED. it’s a community effort!
WE ARE BRINGING THE TALENTS , EXPERTS AND DOERS IN THE SAME ROOM FOR SUPPORT AND COLLABORATION ON THESE CHALLENGES!
Attracting talents locally and all over the world to come to Berlin is a necessity already.
The cities hunger for skilled tech workers is ever increasing and the times, where the local ecosystem had enough talent to provide, are long gone.
By 2021 the demand for tech talent will exceed the locally available talentpool by more than 40%.
Relocation capabilities need to be on everyone’s agenda.
Identification of today HR, corporates and startup’s PAIN POINT.
Spotting the diamond in the rough abroad can be a challenge.
While most companies are already utilising video-interview technology, few really feel comfortable running full-remote hiring processes.
We will talk about:
Attraction, Interviewing, Visa matters , Travel & relocation, Onboarding , Bureaucracy, Your employees needs, Shaping cohesion in international teams ( find more below on each)
Attraction
Germany, specifically Berlin, is still to this day playing second (behind London), or even third fiddle (with Barcelona soaring past Berlin in some recent surveys) in Europe when it comes to being perceived as the go-to destination for talented employees. Amsterdam and Lisbon are close behind and looking to close the gap.
The reasons here are complex, but we can improve aspects that are within our control.
Visa matters
Germany and the city of Berlin specifically have recognized the need for skilled, international workers. Sadly that does not (yet) always translate to a smooth and speedy visa process for your potential employees. Things to watch out for:
Travel & relocation
Onboarding
Bureaucracy
From registering in a new city, visa changes to obtaining a tax ID there are multiple hurdles that your employee might need support with.
Your employees needs
We take most of what defines our daily life for granted. When relocating to another country, you start (almost) from scratch:
Shaping cohesion in international teams
Successfully building a good company- and team culture is hard. While most of it comes down to individual behavior and situational factors like your companies state, mission, etc. there are some universal truths and best practices that we feel should be shared as common knowledge.
